The deadline for the submission of the quiz answers has been advanced to Thursday, 18 November 2010 from the original date of Sunday, 21st November 2010. This because the current week, being the last week of school is the only one that allows us to give away the prizes for the quiz during the Mock Awards’ ceremony which is most likely to be held on Friday.

Make sure you send in your answers in the next two days.

CV FIITJEE Anniversary Quiz November 11, 2010

11th November 2009. That’s when CV FIITJEE posted for the first time. It’s been a whole year since then, within which so much has changed and so much has happened. Not wanting to overlook its first birthday, I compiled a quiz to serve as part of the celebrations.

Rules

This quiz is open to all. Whether you’re a student of XII-F or not doesn’t matter. Although you might find a few questions in favour of certain other participants, you should probably still play just for the fun of it. All you have to do is send a message to my Facebook inbox with the answers to the corresponding question numbers (you can send messages even if you aren’t on my friends list). Remember, don’t post them on my wall or as comments to this blog post as they can be seen by all.

Scoring & Deadline

You score 10 points for a right answer and 5 if it’s partially right. And don’t worry, there isn’t any negative marking, so feel free to guess anything you like. The last day for submission of entries is on Sunday, 21st November 2010, since some can make it online only on weekends without AITS and all that.

Here we go…

1. In range of 50’s starting from 0, what do you think would be the range of the total number of posts and comments together till date? (for example: 50-100, 100-150 etc.)

2. Who did CVM famously call ‘Horlicks Boy’?

3. What do the initials in GVAK Sharma stand for?

4. Who has/had a teddy bear named Hugsy?

5. Guruskandan is an M.Sc in ______

6. Which (among the class) is the most supported football club?

7. Complete: PSOM, Dutta, MKS, ______

8. Who does Amudha call ‘Rocket fellow’?

9. Who would you relate Aspartic Acid with?

10. Who is fondly called ‘Bhujji’?

11. Who does Venkatesh share with what is common between Utkarsh, Pooja and Parul?

12. Who does Hari’s ‘Popeye the Sailor Man’ song refer to?

13. Which teacher is famously known for showing his interest in buying a Toyota Innova?

14. In all, how many teachers have taught us in the last two years?

15. Who, related to our class, does CV FIITJEE share its birthday with?

Hope you have fun with these fifteen questions. They’re probably too easy, but its pretty hard thinking of tougher questions. Good luck with them! ๐Ÿ™‚

It was Monday again, and Muthupandi was back! He was scampering across the class yelling “10 rupees, 10 rupees, 10 rupees…”. That’s when he stopped at the bench where Ramaswamy and Balajee were sitting. He noticed that the shoe that was sticking out of the bench wasn’t canvas and told Balajee to pay up. The funny part was, it wasn’t Balajee’s shoe! The class burst out in laughter when Balajee returned a startled expression saying that it wasn’t his shoe. It turned out that it was Ram’s shoe, who had to eventually pay the fine. But Muthupandi wasn’t done just yet. When I was standing up to answer a question that MP asked, he demanded a fine from me as well, thinking I was standing up for not being in uniform!

We heard some wonderful news on Tuesday when MP told us that they were gonna give us holidays for Maithri. It did, however, come with a condition – we were to finish both our Computer Science and Chemistry projects in those three days.

We ran into Muthupandi again on Wednesday. This time, it was at the football ground. He grabbed our ball and held it for a hundred buck ransom. We bargained for a while, after which he brought it down to fifty. But the bargaining didn’t stop at that. And at the end, we convinced him to give it back to us for thirty!

After one period of biomolecules in Chemistry in the afternoon, we had one period of Chemistry mokkai! The class shared all their Chemistry-related ‘jokes’ with the rest of the class, more than happy to keep CVM away from the blackboard.

Thursday saw PSOM really pissed! I don’t whether it was about our performance in the cycle test or what, but he first slammed the window on a bunch of kids who wanted to pick the ball out from the sunshade, and then told us that he didn’t want us to bring a football to class anymore. But I don’t think anyone is gonna listen to him. Anyway, ย all that was on our minds at that time was about the three days waiting in store for us…

The Week That Was: 12th July ’10 – 17th July ’10 July 18, 2010

The week started with one of the easiest Chemistry test papers we’d ever written. We probably found it easy cause it was set by the school, and not FIITJEE (for once!). CVM was then telling us about how he was questioned by the authorities at FIITJEE about how effective his teaching was. Apparently, the feedback form showed that he wasn’t doing as good a job as they’d have liked him to. So he decided it was time everyone got more serious and decided not to give us free periods anymore.

Tuesday was MP’s birthday. Girish, on behalf of the class got him a huge birthday card which we all signed. We also began to sing a birthday song for him when he entered class, after which Parul handed the card to the a embarrassed-looking Prasad sir. As you would expect with MP, nothing much else happened after that.

Thursday witnessed violence between the two FIITJEE sections. The football match between F1 & F2 got bloody as neither team was willing to give an inch away to the other. It got really violent when F2 ignored calls for a foul on Dutta and then went on to score with all of us caught unaware. Everyone began to argue whether that goal was legal or not, and eventually it was taken off the score sheet. The match continued with venom as Dutta brought to ground a boy who just walked into the ground and started kicking the ball around, which almost made Dutta have the ball tackled away by Mohit. The closely fought match finished 3-3.

A sudden evening test after nearly a week caught us all by surprise on Friday. Nearly everyone decided to bunk the test by sneaking out through the back door before the teacher arrived. As expected, hardly anyone did, and most of those who did eventually came back to write the test.

All of CVM’s resolutions to cut down on free periods came crashing down when he gave us one before lunch on Saturday, followed by the PT we got during another one of his classes at 2.30. He said that it was going to be the last PT he was going to give, but I’m not too sure ;).

The Week That Was (XII F1): 7th Juneโ€™10 โ€“ 12th June โ€™10 June 13, 2010

A lovely breeze accompanied the falling droplets as we made our way to class for the new week. Ironically, the air conditioner began to work reliably just when it was least needed. Things got even better when details of the excursion were revealed. The modified dates for the Ooty trip was around about the 5th of July.

FIITJEE, however, lived up to their reputation of playing spoil sport. They declared that class would happen even during the excursion for students who weren’t going. Not only that, but there would be class for students who weren’t participating in the sports day events, which were to take place on Thursday. And if that wasn’t bad enough, they stuck a test schedule on the wall which tells us that we have a test nearly everyday (it’s under the “Timetable” link on the homepage), which is serious torture!

On Wednesday, CVM brought his toys to school. Smitha’s toys, rather. The collection had balls and sticks… and holes ;). You were supposed to insert the sticks into the holes to join together different balls to get a cooler looking toy. Okay, fine, they were actually supposed to represent atoms that are bonded together by single, double or triple bonds to form larger molecules. CVM’s main idea, though, was to show us how molecules were arranged in solids and where the tetrahedral and octahedral voids actually were.

Thursday. Time for sports day. It was pretty good weather to run around the ground. But it wasn’t any less tiring. And we did a decent job actually, considering that everybody thinks that FIITJEE students can’t do anything but study. Shivam and Prithvi got the farthest, reaching the finals of 100 metres and high jump respectively. Prithvi, unfortunately, couldn’t win a medal, while Shivam is gearing up for the finals at Nehru stadium later this year.

The World Cup fever caught on with everyone by Friday and we decided to get the whole class involved in it. 32 five buck lottery tickets, that each had a team name on it were picked by 32 of us (including PSOM). The person who has the ticket of the World Cup winning team gets a 100 bucks while the person who has the worst performing team gets 60 bucks! Sarav and Shivam are the strongest contenders for the 100 after they picked Spain and Brazil respectively, while PSOM should be pretty content with his New Zealand ticket :).

Correction: Prithvi did win a medal after all. It was a bronze for high jump. Congratulations, Prithvi. Sorry for not mentioning it earlier.

Well its been a while since the CV FIITJEE blog came up – its first came post came out on the 11th of November last year. And I guess its about time that now we spread this to F2 as well. Yes it has kinda been influenced by the reshuffling test that separated some of our friends from us, but we’re welcoming everyone in F1 and F2 nonetheless.

This of course means that we’re welcoming a new author – Adithya Balakrishnan. She’d be bringing to light all that happens in XII F2. So the next time you read a blog post, make sure you see who the author is – I wouldn’t be wanting to take all the credit ;).

And from the coming week onwards, I’ll put up the F2 timetable along with the one for F1.
