This week wasn’t too different from last week. CUM was again busy with board corrections, so we got one or two periods everyday to do what we wanted.

Tuesday was one such day. The first two periods were supposed to be Computer Science lab sessions, which we utilized to play basketball. And that after we bluffed to everyone that we had Amudha’s permission for it. It was around 20 minutes before Chemistry class that Pooja tripped and bruised her knee. Some of the guys crowding around her were like “Oh”, while the girls went “Oooh god!”. Then came Pragadesh. In a voice almost as loud as Pooja’s, he yelled “OH MY GOD POOJA! ARE YOU OK?”. Lol his reaction got everyone around jeering at him and we convinced him that the bruise would hurt a little lesser if he’d avoid opening his mouth. Five minutes later, we saw Safiyullah heading our way. Not wanting to get into trouble with him, we decided to head back to class. Unfortunately, it was a little too late. He rounded up all of us like a policeman and started yelling at us. The fact that we’re all from FIITJEE pissed him off even more. And his problem was not that we were out of class playing, but that we were playing “his sport”. He said that its very annoying to see us play the way we do (though he never saw us play), more so that he “gives his life for basketball”. He was determined to get us into trouble with Amudha and took us all around the school to look for her. While we were waiting for her to return from the third floor (which took ages), Safi felt that he had to pass his time picking on us. He started saying things like only professionals should play sports, we people don’t even know the spelling of basketball and all that crap. And the government is talking about encouraging sports in schools!

The theme of the day continued through to the evening when CNP (the PDT Chemistry teacher), got really angry about the low attendence during Chemisrty class. He told us to tell the missing ones (one of who was Raghav) that they would not be allowed to attend Chemistry class anymore and may as well stay at home. And later on towards the end of the class, he learnt that nobody had done the homework that was given during the previous class and nearly gave up on us (at least he said he did).

Thursday was probably the last day of privacy we had in our corridor. ‘Cause when we stepped out of class at 3.30 on Thursday, we saw a camera starting right at us. That’s right – “security” cameras had been set up all around school. So we spent the evening making faces at the cameras, wondering if people were actually going to monitor them all day long.

Oh yeah, remember the Thursday-Friday switch ups for PT? Well, it seems to have caused confusion amongst the teachers, the result of which is that we end up getting PT on both days! Though this is going to stop now that we’re going to have only FIITJEE classes from the coming week onwards, we’re hoping that the confusion remains even when “normal school” reopens in June.

The last Chemistry class of the week saw CVM upset, thanks to our chemistry test marks. And so he got really pissed at us talking during class. He wrote down “PHENOLS” on the board, hoping that at least writing on the board would make us pay attention to him. When we did pay attention to what what was on the board, he wrote down “KEEP QUITE” next to it. Well, it made matters worse! ‘Cause everyone started laughing at the spelling of what was meant to be “QUIET”. And then he was like, “Oh sorry, I wrote down ‘quit’ by mistake”. Lol you can imagine the atmosphere after that!

When CVM was asking us why we make so much noise when he’s explaining doubts, Shivam joked about it being due to the “change in entropy” of the class. Well, Karan Sharma took that a little too seriously and actually wrote it down in his notebook! And when CVM told the class about it, everyone started laughing at him, which made Karan really upset. CVM felt bad for him and scolded us for laughing. I don’t know, but the way he told us about him writing it seemed like it was meant to make us laugh!

And then we played basketball again after school. Just as luck would have it, Pooja collided with Vishal and got injured again… in the same area! Ouch! And Varuna’s headline for the incident was “Vishal just banged Pooja” ;).

The coming week may not have as many free periods, so we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed. And good luck for success with all the tests and assignments.

The week started with everyone taking turns to sign on Srisiva’s cast and throughout the week he played basketball with it! Now, is that really a broken arm?! I don’t know how many people think it’s cool having a cast considering the awful rashes you get once you take it off.

Well I had forgotten to mention Ambujam’s classes. The most funniest part are her facial expressions!! They’d beat all those smilies on messenger! She’s makes us write down every word she says during class. But the most bugging part is when she takes like 2 whole minutes to write the spelling of small silly words on the board and she makes us write the word and meanings given at the bottom of our textbook in our notebooks!! She definitely thinks she’s handling a bunch of kindergarteners.

MKS has quite diplomatic ways of getting things done without much of a mess. He asked us about how many of us would work hard this one year and everyone was like “YEAH!” (We really didn’t have a choice cause if we’d said NO then he’d be like “Aare yaar !! Why?” LOL!. One think I bet you’d have noticed is all the math teachers have this hindi exclamation they use like how our computer science teacher uses ‘OK’. But the ‘OK’ virus is a more severe than ‘Bolo baba’ and ‘Aare yaar’!!)  And so he took out a bundle of CPPs and handed them out to us and asked us to submit the next day. The next thing he made us do was write our name, batchcode, enrollment number and made us write a letter that said we’d finish the cpp for the next day and if we didn’t we’d stay back till 8:30 pm the next day and asked us to get our parents sign on it, all this trouble so that our parents don’t freak out if we’re not home.

The whole week we had quite a lot of free periods. All of them computer science periods. It was just another week. Basketball, cricket, feeling sleepy, bored, happy, excited. I don’t want school to end. I was just thinking about how wierd it would be without all this. Even lab periods are pretty much cool. This week we had to make complex salt and we had people drinking distilled water just to make sure it wasn’t the water with the salts in it!! And the lab assistant aint a bad person (we all had a little talk on wines last class).  And then there’s physics lab sessions, which is mostly stuggling to get the readings right.

The buzz all around at the start of the week was about IITJEE, the one that had happened just last Sunday. Karan Sharma brought the question paper along with a solution booklet and was really excited about it. All the teachers too were discussing the paper with us. CVM, Shivam and Dutta found the Chemistry section “damn easy”, though I couldn’t make head or tail of it. But the Physics and Math sections weren’t all that bad… at least the questions were in words and not in weird shapes!

Just as I was talking about CVM losing his mood swings, he seemed to have rediscovered it. He wasn’t in his greatest of moods in the first few days of the week and came down quite heavily on some of us. But I guess it does happen to everyone at times – I still believe CVM’s temper these days is much better than it ever was. And yeah, CVM seems to have found a replacement for Garimella in Anirudh! After seeing Anirudh struggle to write the structure of acetone, he was convinced about his weakness in Organic Chemistry and began to ask him question after question, just as he used to do with Gari. The funny bit was that after he had been asked like five questions, he went “Ey Hari, bet ra – he’s not going to ask me anything more today”. And what happened? Yes, the very next question as CVM returned to the class after his periodic ‘Smitha break’ was for Anirudh to answer! Lol.

And guess who the new star of the class is? Its Rajeshwar, now popularly know as ‘Gausseshwar’. After successfully applying Gauss’s Law at a time when no one else in the class was comfortable using it, it made us all feel like we were enlightened by the presence of Gauss himself. So Dutta christened him ‘Gausseshwar’. And his exploits continued in Chemistry and Computer Science as well, so we decided that it was only right to call him by different names during different classes. So its now ‘Markeshwar’ during Chemistry class and ‘De Morgeshwar’ during Computer Science class. ‘Gausseshwar’ however, remains his default honour.

Surprisingly, we had quite a few PT periods this week. We had one on Wednesday, when CVM was busy correcting our test papers. And then we had half after we finished the Computer Science test early. Then came the actually PT period today, which we continued over to the last two periods of day once we realized that CUM wasn’t gonna come.

The ultimate moment of the week though, was CVM’s cum Shivam’s birthday celebration. CVM didn’t have a class on Thursday (which was his actual birthday), and we don’t have school during Shivam’s birthday on Saturday. So we decided to make use of the only day between them by getting them a cake and cutting it during the post-lunch session. We sang them a birthday song, smeared cake on their faces and took some snaps with them. And CVM helped clean up all the mess we made – the kind of mess that Amudha would explode on seeing. And of course, we also managed to waste the entire afternoon, which was a part of our agenda ;).

‘FIITJEE Towers’ is opening tomorrow. Its a new FIITJEE building for the faculty. It apparently has a gym, saloon and all that. What’s in it for us? Well, a holiday. Since all the faculty members are attending its inauguration, we’re not going to have school tomorrow.

And that obviously is a great way to end an eventful week. This may well be a sign of things to come!

The week kicked off with the reshuffling test results. Something almost everyone dreaded. Well it turned out there wasn’t much of a difference in either of the classes. And this year there’s gonna be a blog for F2 too.

Monday’s classes were all about ‘briefing’ us about the new academic year, which is what almost all the teachers did. It was only MKS who didn’t. Well everyone loves him except for the fact you can’t make out what he’s saying half the time. He talks so damn fast that Abinaya actually stood up and asked him to talk slowly like three times.  The next day he spent 5 whole minutes checking out Divye’s hair style that he’d noticed when he asked him to do some problem on the board. He’s pretty humourous too. He happened to be standing next to Essaki when Essaki went like “Essaki different name.” and then MKSs like “Oh! That’s your full name?” He’s from West Bengal and his last name is Mondal (He told us his name only on the second day of class!), just like PSOM, and guess what? They even stay together.

And then comes computer science. We have this funny guy who keeps holding his specs like its gonna fall if he doesn’t. He keeps going on and on about how he’ll be able to remember our names only after the exams. He’s gonna be our class teacher for the year.

The week ended with Srisiva falling off the window shade while trying to get the cricket ball. His hand ended up a little messed up but he didn’t seem too bothered about it.

It was finally time for ‘proper school’. We’d been starved of English, Computer Science and other non-FIITJEE classes for quite some time. Not that they’re things that we’re dying for, but at least it helps us keep away from FIITJEE for a while.

The first day of the week saw a few new people in our class (read ‘The Tale of Two Classes’ for more). And there was a clean-shaven Hari Prasad walking into the class. His new moustache became an instant hit in class, especially with CVM.

And then came Computer Science. CUM (I guess that’s what Uma Maheshwari’s code would be if she were a FIITJEE teacher… lol) started teaching us ‘Boolean Algebra’, where we learnt things like “1+1=1” and theorems like “If x=0, then x≠1”. Raghav as usual pissed her off by making fun of it!

“Moodswing Mahesh” seemed to have changed enough to be deservingly called “One-Mood Mahesh”, as he seemed to have drastically improved his bad temper. You can almost never see him angry these days. I remember him talking about his baby sometime last week. And although ‘baby’ can mean a lot of things, I have a feeling his wife gave birth to a baby recently and it could probably be reflecting in his mood.

MJ tried teaching us how to write ‘Classified Ads’, but could unfortunately only end up teaching us how to write humour. ‘Cause that’s what we made of the ads, especially the matrimonial ones! Later in the week, we managed to rob one of her periods to get an extra PT period, where the new fad of playing cricket continued.

The week ended with us learning the ‘Balz-Schiemann’ reaction from CVM, the one we prefer calling the ‘Balls She-Man’ reaction. Chemistry isn’t too boring after all! And when Dutta started making fun of it, CVM was like “Abhishek Dutta, you’re only 14 years old and you’re like this”. Lol this guy turns 18 in a few months!

The coming week seems to filled with so many tests. And FIITJEE are making things worse by not giving us the holidays that the rest of the school are getting. I guess we just need to wait for CVM to make our day again ;).

Well its been a while since the CV FIITJEE blog came up – its first came post came out on the 11th of November last year. And I guess its about time that now we spread this to F2 as well. Yes it has kinda been influenced by the reshuffling test that separated some of our friends from us, but we’re welcoming everyone in F1 and F2 nonetheless.

This of course means that we’re welcoming a new author – Adithya Balakrishnan. She’d be bringing to light all that happens in XII F2. So the next time you read a blog post, make sure you see who the author is – I wouldn’t be wanting to take all the credit ;).

And from the coming week onwards, I’ll put up the F2 timetable along with the one for F1.

Adjustment in XII F1 Timetable April 7, 2010

After successful negotiation with MJ and other concerned school and FIITJEE faculty, XII F1’s timetable for Thursday and Friday has been adjusted. The Computer Science class that was originally scheduled for the second period on Thursdays (which was incorrectly given as English earlier) has been replaced by a PT period. The Computer Science class has instead been shifted to the last half-hour of the day. The FIITJEE class that was supposed to happen during that last half-hour has been shifted to the second period on Fridays, replacing the PT period that was originally scheduled then. So it all works out in the end – no classes lost, no classes gained.

The change was made following a request to have the PT period during the second hour on Thursdays for two reasons – one, XII F2 have their’s at that time, which means that there’d be more people to play with, and two, playing while wearing Friday’s uniform totally sucks.

This of course means one thing – the first PT period for us has been preponed to tomorrow! Looking forward to it :).

The results of the reshuffling tests were out this morning, and it saw widely mixed responses to it. Some were overjoyed at that fact that they made it to the XII-F1 list, some disappointed that they didn’t, some extensively unbothered and others celebrating the fact that their buddies didn’t leave them to be a part of F1.

The ones whose absence we’ll unfortunately have to put up with are Arjun, Utkarsh, Garimella, Adithya, Arvind, Natarajan, Suprajah, Poris, Aishwarya Mohan, Prithvi, Chirayu and Shreyansh. One wonders how good a job the new ones – Afsal, Boris, Natesan, Maitreyee, Pragadesh, Subramaniyam and Sathya Priya would do in filling in their shoes. A warm welcome to them either way. And its pretty interesting isn’t it – Poris leaves, Boris arrives. Natarajan leaves, Natesan arrives. It’s also interesting that Karan Sharma’s name still exists on the F1 list.

They gave us the timetable for the new year today. All days start on a good note (they don’t start with a FIITJEE class). And Thursday is the only day that ends with a FIITJEE class. And so much for all that we did for MJ. She isn’t going anywhere – she’ll be with us for another year :).

Last year was a good one, but let’s hope that this one is better. We’ll have to wait and see!

The week went on as it did previously. Revisions were going on for the second reshuffling test – the phase 3 and 4 stuff. PSOM was back after his throat infection break. One man missing though was MP. He’d gone out of town, so the unfortunate MSJ had to put up with us. And we took advantage of him while we had the chance. When the power went off during Math class on Monday afternoon, no one bothered to bring to his notice that the windows could be opened to bring in light. Lol so we got ourselves a break and turned off all the switches so he wouldn’t notice even when the power returned. Ankit Shai however, messed things up by turning on all the switches. And on Wednesday, we had all the time in the world to go pay the fees before class started. But we ‘strategically’ delayed it so that we could bunk Math class. We convinced MSJ to let us go pay the fees during class. And though that didn’t take too long a time, we managed to stretch it as far as we could to reduce the duration of our Math class. And it actually worked – it was time for lunch by the time we did four or five problems.

School started for the mainstream students on Thursday (finally!). So we had to attend assembly and all. And instead of welcoming us warmly for the new year, Amudha started off saying that students who misbehave would be “detained and given T.C.” (aren’t being detained and being given TC exactly the opposite?). Anyway, the next day was a holiday, and that’s all we cared about. CVM tried to con us into believing that it wasn’t a holiday, but we were a bit smarter than he expected us to be ;).

The second reshuffling test, the last test for us in eleventh grade (assuming that none us are staying back in eleventh for another year) was on Saturday. I don’t know about everyone, but I found the previous week’s one to be easier. Organic Chemistry was back, only to cause more problems. Either way, we’re glad that we’re done with it for this academic year.

Twelfth grade starts tomorrow, with a few of our buddies missing. That’s cause of what the reshuffling test is capable of. There will be a few new faces in F1, but not too many, going by what CVM says. Hopefully, we’ll all still be together. Good luck :).
