The FIITJEE marathon continued on to the new week as well. One good thing though was that the subjects were well distributed over the week and weren’t piled up.

A huge surprise was thrown into class on Monday with CBS walking in for Chemistry class. He’d rejoined FIITJEE and was taking class for us that day since CVM was unwell. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen our class pay more attention to him than we saw that day. Either we grew up and got a bit more serious, or we just decided to give him more respect since he was returning after a long long time.

PSOM got hit by a throat infection, being the latest of the faculty to have a substitute replace him. PMS replaced him for the week. He did a pretty good job, but was a bit on the stricter side.

Friday was a holiday for us to study for the first reshuffling test on Saturday. The two papers were pretty okay on the whole, not as bad as some other tests we had prior to it. It also was Open Day and PTM with the FIITJEE faculty. Congratulations to Dutta and Shivam shared the top spot of the rankings.

And there’s another reshuffling test coming up this Saturday. All the best everyone!

The week started with our Math annual exam. It seemed to have gone pretty well, but the evaluation wasn’t all that pleasing. Most of us were left staring at a figure which we expected would be higher.

On Wednesday and Friday were our English and Computer Science exams. English was pretty much the same as it generally is, but Computer Science was a wee bit too long. We just managed to squeeze through all the questions after stealing 5 minutes of extra time, leaving no time left for us to check how close to reality the nonsense we wrote was. But the good part was that it was our last exam for eleventh grade. Or so we thought. We had to come to school on Saturday, the very next day after the end of the annual exams, only to hear that there are gonna be some ‘Revision Phase Tests’ for which we’re supposed to study! And they’ll reshuffle us into different batches depending on how well we do those exams.

Saturday also signalled the return of MP! It was for over a month that MSJ had taken over for MP and it was about time that MP had returned. Meanwhile, CVM was his usual self when we saw him yesterday after two weeks – he took Garimella’s IPL ticket and threatened not to give it back to him if he didn’t solve the problems given to him. He also took Sailesh’s new football from us when we were playing football saying he “wanted to prevent what happened to Garimella.” He was referring to that huge bandage on Garimella’s head – the one he got when he ran into his friend (literally) while playing cricket. And talking about Garimella, its no surprise that Pooja’s name is gonna get a mention here. CVM apparently didn’t want to make his Pooja stand outside for coming late after lunch because the sun would affect her complexion :).

And while CVM did all that, he also gave us our Phase IV results. Chemistry was horrible – no need to ask me why! And his reaction was an expected one. At least there was math to save us!

Only two working days of school this week. How often does that happen? Well, Monday marked the start of the annual exams. Physics was first, and in truth it wasn’t all that great. The questions were okay alright, but we simply didn’t have enough time to answer them all.

We actually managed to get the three holidays that were scheduled in between Monday’s Physics exam and Friday’s Chemistry exam. I just have a feeling that Amudha’s reaction to our half-yearly results has something to do with FIITJEE giving us more time to study. Well whatever it was, they’ll be glad they gave us those days off. ‘Cause this Chemistry exam went way better than any other one we’ve had all year :).

The rest of the days were holidays, with the Math exam coming up. Following suit is English and Computer Science, after which we’ll be done with the year. Can’t wait for it!

FIITJEE took a day for probably the first time in 10 years on Monday cause of Holi. We couldn’t enjoy all of it though, cause of the Chemistry practical exams, which I have to say went a lot better than it did last term.

On Tuesday, after the Computer Science practical exam, Shivam’s ‘stunningness’ in Chemistry was there for all to see. We had Chemistry during PES, where CNP started with Atomic Structure saying that it would take a while to finish with it. We (especially Shivam) however, were better than he thought and managed to finish pretty quickly. So, he switched over to Redox Reactions and after a few sums, he just gave up! There was nothing he could do, and after Shivam came up with the answer to what was supposed to be a difficult problem, he actually reacted saying “Oh my God!”.

Phase Test-IV was on Thursday, the end of which put a momentary pause to a long train of exams. And Chemistry horribly sucked… at least for us humans. A few other species reckoned it wasn’t all that bad. And on Friday, after convincing MSJ to not take class since it was the last day of 11th class, we managed a pretty nice ‘goodbye’ to MJ (you might want to check out the previous post).

And the next two days were holidays. For what? Annuals – from Monday. Sigh!

Farewell, MJ March 6, 2010

Well yesterday was our last day at XI-F1 and probably the last day we all got to be together with MJ. So we made her a card that would make her think of us everytime she looked at it (not that we’re forgotten easily or anything ;)).

Card to MJ (Front)

This is the how the front of the card looks. The caricaturing is really nice, and it’s been done none other than Ankit Shai.

Card to MJ (Inside)

This is the inside of the card. Underneath the photos you see there are our handprints pressed with paint. I guess everyone printed their’s except for the two Bharadwaj-es (Raghav and Poris).
Clockwise, starting from the top right, the first photo shows Sailesh staring – just a reminder of MJ telling him “Sailesh Krishna, stop staring at me!”. The second one is Karan Sharma in his usual pose of asking the teacher to excuse him for coming late again. Lol. The next one’s a cute pic of Pooja and Aishwarya Pai leaning over the door of the Bio-Tech Lab, following MJ’s instructions to meet her there for just about everything! The fourth one shows a portion of the class with MJ during the farewell for the 10th and 12th grade students. The photo after that is that of us playing during a free period that she gave us. The next one shows a whole bunch of us crowded around Shivam’s and Dutta’s notebooks in order to get our homework done! And the last one shows Ramaswamy pointing towards the infamous location where a different tube light once existed. It was unfortunately shattered by his kick of the football.
Those pictures will definitely do a good job in bringing her memories of our class again.

Card to MJ (Back)

And this one’s the back of the card. At the top, as you can see, is a photo of us standing there. Below the photo is one final message that we wanted to deliver to MJ before parting ways.

We wanted to surprise her with this card, so we didn’t tell her why we were calling her to our classroon. But we needed to think of some reason that’ll bring her to the classroom. So we told her that Shivam and Shreyansh were involved in a fight and it was getting physical. She came scampering, but not alone! A whole bunch of thrilled seniors who were with her at that time couldn’t wait to see blood. Unfortunately, we left them disappointed. No fighting, no blood. But we had succeeded in surprising MJ, and she was extremely pleased to see the card.

Great job, everybody. We rule! Now, time for the same with the annuals ;). Good luck!
